Hide your activity: YouTube planning to bring incognito mode for its Android app

YouTube, to be sure, already has a similar feature using which you can pause the watch and search history

In a world where your every move on the Internet is being tracked and your activities being logged, there are some Androids apps which provide an option to go incognito.

The feature which was limited largely to internet browsers till now has been replicated by other apps as well. Google Chrome, Chromecast, SwiftKey and the Gboard keyboard app are already armed with the protection of an incognito mode. Now, YouTube is also planning to introduce this function to its Android app.

YouTube, to be sure, already has a similar feature using which you can pause the watch and search history. But to access that you have to dive deep into the settings. Precisely, going to Settings > History & privacy and toggling on the options to pause watch and search history. Or, you can sign out of the app and use it.

In the upcoming updates, YouTube will make it easy to enter into incognito mode. According to Android Police, it will introduce a ‘Turn on Incognito’ button on the account sections. In order to access it, all you need to do is tap on your avatar on the right-hand top corner of the home page of the app. The button would be available where you see ‘Sign out’ now. The ‘Sign out’ button will be clubbed with Switch account button.

Once you enter Incognito mode, a new session will start and your subscriptions will be hidden in this mode. As soon as you go back to the normal mode, all activities from the incognito session will be erased.
