Google confirms that Pixel 5 5G will not come to India, here's why

It will however launch the Pixel 4a in October at an affordable price point

August 03, 2020 / 10:26 PM IST

Pixel 5 5G models will not come to India and Singapore based on a variety of factors, which include 'local market trends' and 'product features', Google said in a statement, adding that they are looking forward to bringing future Pixel devices to these countries.

It will, however, launch the Pixel 4a this October at an affordable price point.

The Pixel 4a will come in Just Black along with a 5.8 inch OLED display. It will also have a matte finish and includes Pixel’s signature colour pop power button in mint.

The camera on the Pixel 4a, will be similar to the one on Pixel 4, but also come with HDR+ with dual exposure controls, Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography capabilities and fused video stabilisation.

As for memory and battery life, the Pixel 4a has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G Mobile Platform, Titan M security module for on-device security, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage with an even bigger battery that lasts all day.

For those who need it, the Pixel 4a will have a feature called Recorder, which now connects with Google Docs to seamlessly save and share transcriptions and recordings in English.

Along with Pixel 2, 3, 3a and 4 phones, the Pixel 4a will also have Live Captions, which will allow you to caption your voice and video calls.

The price for the new Pixel4a will be revealed closer to the launch, the company said in a statement.
