Security Watch India (SWI) is organizing ‘Water Management for Smart Cities’ on 15th February 2016 at Jacaranda Hall, Habitat World, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi and on 17thFebruary 2016 at Centrum Hall, World Trade Centre, Mumbai. The theme of the event is “Challenges and good practices for managing water in smart cities”.

H.E. Amb. Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India,will be inaugurating the event along with Dr. Udit Raj, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (North West Delhi), Gen J Singh (Retd) IPS, former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Ex-Chief of Army Staff, Chairman Advisory Board, SWI, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chairman, Delhi Jal Board, at Delhi and Mr. Rajendra Singh, Chairman, Tarun Bharat Sangh, Ms. Jane Grady, Deputy Director, British High Commission in Mumbai and Mr. Ajoy Mehta, Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Mr. Maroof Raza, TV Commentator and Columnist and Strategic Security Expert, would be present for the inaugural session at Mumbai. A trade delegation from British Water is also participating in the conference to share their international experience.
 
With rapid urbanization, cities face increasing challenges for water management, securing sustainable water and sanitation which are a pre-requisite for smart cities. The water cycle (production, distribution, consumption, and re-use of waste water) plays an integral part of the urban system. This conference aims to bring together stakeholders in water infrastructure management to discuss these challenges and develop a smart approach to deliver better system through a strong partnership between urban planners, water service providers, government agencies, regulators and other key stakeholders and meet the liveability objectives. International experiences for better managing the water resources will be shared with Municipal commissioners, water treatment and distribution companies, waste water management firms and key financial institutions attending the event.The event would connect municipal commissioners and mayors, heads of various departments from urban local bodies, senior city planners, and policy makers from over 500 Indian cities.
